Vietnam war era Veterans' medal and ceremony

On October 18, 2016 at the VA campus in Rocky Hill, there will be a ceremony starting at 2PM honoring all veterans that served during the Vietnam War era.

A medal honoring that era (Feb 28, 1961 through July 1, 1975) will be awarded to those qualifying.   To qualify for  the medal, you must complete and return an application as described in the paragraph below.    Click on the word, "Vietnam" next to the poster picture at the bottom of this note to get the application form and additional information from the CCSU web page.  If you qualify, you will be eligible to receive tickets to attend the ceremony.  Questions, call 1-860 832-2977.  

CONNECTICUT WARTIME SERVICE MEDAL APPLICATION
QUALIFYING SERVICE DATES (FEBRUARY 28, 1961 – JULY 1, 1975 
PURPOSE: All Connecticut veterans with qualifying wartime military service are eligible to receive the CT Wartime Service Medal (Vietnam)
ELIGIBILITY: In order to receive the CT Wartime Service Medal (Vietnam), the veteran must meet all of the following:

REQUIREMENTS: 
1. Submit documentary proof of qualifying military wartime service (90 or more days of active duty during a period of declared war, excluding active duty for training, initial entry training, or unless the war or operation lasted less than 90 days)

2. Submit proof of an honorable discharge from military service (or discharge due to injuries received in the line of duty) for the qualifying wartime service.

3. Submit proof that you are currently a resident of the State of CT or that you were a resident at the time of your qualifying wartime service.

DOCUMENTATION:
1. Completed and signed application form.

2. Proof of service during a period of war(DD Form 214, or other documentation if DD Form 214 is not available)

3. Proof of current residency in the State of CT, or proof of residency during time of qualifying service (copy of driver’s license or ID Card)
